The Pastor of this church is called to . . . 1. Serve as Head of Staff, hiring and dismissing all members of the church staff in coordination with the appropriate Session committee. As Head of Staff, the Pastor, or his / her designee, is responsible for supervising and evaluating all staff members. (Noting, however, that Presbytery-installed members of clergy staff cannot be hired or dismissed unilaterally by the Pastor.) 2. Accept responsibility for the administration of the church (this may include his/her delegating this task to others in particular instances). 3. Serve as staff to the committees of the Session and other organizations of the church. The Pastor may delegate some of this to other members of the staff. 4. Plan and conduct the services of worship in coordination with any and all worship committees of the church. 5. Provide the primary theological foundational support for the congregation in its planning, teaching and preaching. 6. Moderate the meetings of the Session and of the congregation. 7. Assure the delivery of ministerial care services to those of the congregation who have need of such services including, but not limited to, counseling and crisis and emergency support. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. 8. Be available for service to the larger church including, but not confined to, the presbytery, synod, and / or General Assembly.
