The following job description outlines the conditions which apply to the position of Youth Director of Lebanon Presbyterian Church: The objective of the position of Youth Director is to reach out to the youth (middle school and high school age) within this congregation and in the community; sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and helping them to grow and to deepen their faith through educational, mission, and recreational opportunities. The Youth Director will be supervised by the Senior Pastor, the Head of Staff. He / she will coordinate all activities with the Christian Education Committee and will be responsible to the Session of Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Duties shall include, but not be limited to: 1. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the youth. 2. Develop relationships with the youth in this church and in the community. Develop intergenerational relationships among the children, youth, and adults of the church. 3. Direct and plan Middle School and Senior High Youth Groups when necessary, or a combined weekly (grades 6-12) Youth Group. 4. Plan and oversee recreational activities and retreats for the Youth. In coordination with and approval of the Missions Committee, plan and coordinate mission trips for the youth. 5. Recruit and train student and adult leaders. Ensure good communication between the Pastor, the Session, Student and Adult Youth Leaders, Parents, and Youth Director. 6. Plan, coordinate, and lead discipleship with small groups. 7. Plan, coordinate, and direct Summer’s Best Two Weeks at Lebanon Presbyterian Church. This is to include coordination with the Summer’s Best Two Week circuit and attend all planning and leadership meetings. 8. Plan, direct, and coordinate special events of the Youth to include Youth Sunday, the Christmas play, special educational series (such as one on sexuality, etc.). Communicate and coordinate with the Music Director all musical activities involving the youth to include Youth Sunday, Youth Choir, Youth Bells, and Christmas play. 9. Participate in church staff and Christian Education Committee meetings. Prepare and submit a written report of youth activities planned for the upcoming month to the Pastor, Christian Education Committee, and Session for approval on a monthly basis. Attend and participate in all church staff and Christian Education meetings and be prepared to attend and report to Session upon their request. 10. Publish a monthly youth newsletter. 11. Attend training workshops, seminars, and networking meetings organized by the Pittsburgh Presbytery for Youth Directors, as well as Pittsburgh Youth Network, etc. 12. Develop partnership with Young Life at Lebanon Church and the administration of various surrounding middle school and high schools. 13. Coordinate and plan fundraising activities for Youth Group events. 14. Other duties as requested. Conditions of Employment: The Session of Lebanon Presbyterian Church agrees to pay an annual salary of $25,500. Frequency of pay is semi-monthly, the 15th and the 30th of each month. Working hours will be 40 hours per week. Office hours will be established in concurrence with the Pastor, the Head of Staff. Within two weeks of beginning employment, the Youth Director will submit to a Federal and State criminal background check as well as a drug and alcohol screening, with receipt of test to be submitted to the Chairperson of Personnel within two weeks and report to be issued within three months. The above tests will be paid for by Lebanon Church. Within six months of beginning employment, the Youth Director will complete a basic First Aid course to include CPR & Heimlich maneuver, paid for by Lebanon Church. Periodic performance evaluations will be provided by the Pastor, who is the Head of Staff. The Pastor is the supervisor of all members of the church staff. Vacation for the first year of employment will be two weeks. Holidays include: New Years Day, Monday after Easter, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas. Conditions of absence, leave, personal emergencies, etc. as well as all other general personnel policies are outlined in the personnel manual.
