EVENING 6:00 PM TO 10:00 PM APPROXIMATELY 960 HOURS Hours are strongly suggested guidelines, not rigid hours. If you work late one night, you can leave early on a night that is suitable to you and will not hurt the activities and jobs the church requires. Hours can be used to help the other shift under the same conditions above. NIGHT TIME CUSTODIAN (DOWNSTAIRS) 1) Check front and rear of educational unit (from parking lot) for open windows. Make sure all doors on second floor are locked. Check schedule for the week and your mailbox for any messages from office staff. Decide where you have to work each night by checking schedule for the entire week. Decide if some groups may have to be shifted to other rooms, and let them know when they come in. This will give you more flexibility for areas you can work at a different time during the week. 2) If something needs done in a room that is going to be occupied that night, do it as soon as you get in (between 6:00 and 7:30 PM). Most groups start about 7:30 PM so that will give you about an hour to get things presentable. 3) Report any damage or dirty conditions or chronic problems with any groups using the building, with dates and time conditions occurred. 4) Check Fellowship Hall for open windows and doors, temperature in rooms, dusty conditions and spills on floor or excessive scuffmarks. Correct the problem before groups come in. 5) Check all rooms used the previous night or earlier that day for same conditions as in Item #4 above. Correct any bad situation. Keep all rooms free of dust; cobwebs in corners of walls, window ledges, top of drapes, etc. Wipe all tabletops with wet rag. 6) Clean kitchen floor as needed, at least one complete cleaning each week. 7) Clean bathrooms on lower level daily. Twice a week, do a complete cleaning. Wipe walls down at least twice a month. 8) Clean room 109-110-111-112 and 104. The DART people use them during the normal school year. 9) When pre-school is using rooms 208 and 209 during the regular school year, the night custodian will have to clean both rooms Friday night as the day custodian will not be available. 10) Wash inside of all windows at least once a month. 11) Buff corridor floors weekly and spray with wax. 12) Keep floors in room 101-102-103 and 104 clear of scuffmarks and buff and spritz with spray wax once a week. Same for floors in rooms 110-111 and 112. 13) Use this same (item 11) for Fellowship Hall. In between, you may have to wet mop Fellowship Hall depending on use. 14) Vacuum rooms with rugs in them as needed and clean chalk boards and chalk trays by Friday night. 15) Coordinate with daylight custodian to strip and wax all tile floors in entire building once a year (must be done in August). 16) Take all trash to garbage container, side entrance, top level. 17) Shovel snow in winter, cut grass in summer. All grass on lower level and one hillside upper level lower lot must be cut. It is possible to recruit a member of Church Property Committee to help with snow problems. 18) Set-up chairs and tables for events – church events should be on the calendar other set ups that you do are extra and you should be compensated. 19) Setting up stage – this is a two-man job and the group needing the stage is to supply two men as laborers for working under the supervision of the custodian as allowed for in the new Rules for Use of the Church. At least two-week notice is required to have the stage set up. 20) Night-time custodian is to be available for special small request on short order i.e. showing groups where to get chairs and tables, getting garbage bags, sweeping up spills and lightly monitoring events to make sure all is running smoothly. It is not meant to have the custodian burdened down with many small requests or larger requests that the groups are to give notice for in advance. Night custodian (s) are not limited by these items listed here. It is a pretty good list of what the job should entail; but if any dirty conditions exist, the Congregation and our Church and Property Committee will see that the problem will be fixed before we get any complaint from the congregation.
