Missions
The Lebanon mission committee is very involved both locally and around the world. Locally, Lebanon supports organizations such as the Pregnancy Resource Center in  Bethel Park that reaches out to women facing unwanted pregnancies, the Rainbow Kitchen, a food bank in Homestead, the West Mifflin food bank and Women's Place, a shelter for abused women.

Around the world, Lebanon supports many exciting and engaged ministries. The Caring Hearts Orphanage and Boy's Home in San Luis, Mexico has been supported by Lebanon for more than a decade. This orphanage reaches out to young children who have nowhere else to turn. 20 folks from Lebanon spent a week at the orphanage and around San Luis doing mission work over the 2003 Thanksgiving holiday. We partnered with St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church in the North Hills and did a lot of amazing work while there. Pictures of this trip can be seen in the gallery section and on the home page. Another trip is scheduled for Thanksgiving 2005.

In addition to the Bethel Orphanage, Lebanon also has a partnership with St. Columba Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in the southern African country of Malawi. In 2003, Pastor Bob, Alice Tachoir, Lin Plumb, and Ethel Dearfield went to Malawi on the Pittsburgh Presbytery Partnership trip (www.malawipartnership.org). Pastor Mark has traveled to Malawi three times and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Pittsburgh Presbytery Malawi Partnership Committee and also serves as the Convener of the PCUSA Malawi Network. We had the privilege of hosting The Very Rev. Dr. Silas Ncozana and his wife Margaret in August of 2003. Our partnership with St. Columba CCAP continues to be very precious to us at Lebanon PC.

Lebanon also supports many other worthwhile Christian mission efforts locally and around the world. The mission committee has put their support behind a local mission trip that is taking place in Elizabeth, PA June 20th-26th. It is a Reach Work Camp and will allow missionaries the opportunity to work on the homes of less fortunate folks in the Elizabeth area. We look forward to partnering with many local churches as well as church groups who will come from all over the country in this excellent work camp right here in our own backyard. For more information about this camp, please check the Youth Corner section of this site. And, for more information about all that the Lebanon mission committee is involved with, please call the church at (412) 466-7184.
